The energetic punk rock trio with Japanese roots and an Australian spirit originated in Perth in 1996 with three Japanese students—Toshi Maeda, Kei Nakamura, and Atsu Omori—at the helm. The band quickly gained momentum, eventually making a pivotal move to Melbourne in 1998.
In an adrenaline-fueled eleven years, Mach Pelican blazed through 800 shows worldwide, spanning Australia, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. They graced stages alongside punk icons like The Buzzcocks, Rancid and Radio Birdman, and performed at renowned festivals such as Big Day Out, Meredith Music Festival, Homebake and Falls Festival. Notably, they rocked halftime at the 2007 Community Cup in St Kilda, leaving an indelible mark on the scene.
Despite their undeniable impact and immigration challenges led to a farewell tour in 2007. After a decade and a half of quiet, the band has reemerged onto the Australian scene, bringing back the classics and introducing new tunes to rock the town once again.
